Musikfest 2026 reaches its grand finale tonight, Sunday, Aug. 9, as pop-indie trio AJR takes the Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza in Bethlehem for the closing night of the nation’s largest non-gated music festival, wrapping a 10-night run that opened July 31 with country headliner Russell Dickerson.
AJR Returns After a 2023 Sellout
AJR arrives with strong recent history at this stage. The trio sold out the Wind Creek Steel Stage at Musikfest in 2023, one of a relatively small group of acts to achieve that distinction at the festival’s flagship venue. The decision to bring them back as the closing-night headliner reflects both the demand they generated three summers ago and the weight ArtsQuest places on the final night of its 10-day calendar.
The group is known for layering indie pop songwriting with orchestral arrangements and a high-energy live show that draws fans across a wide age range. Tonight’s AJR concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza on Bethlehem’s South Side.
A 10-Night Headliner Run
Musikfest 2026 showcased a deliberately wide range of genres across its headline slots. Country dominated several evenings: Bailey Zimmerman played Aug. 6, Parker McCollum followed Aug. 7, and Yellowcard and Taking Back Sunday shared the stage on Aug. 8. Earlier in the festival, comedian John Mulaney performed Aug. 1, and “Weird Al” Yankovic brought his Bigger and Weirder Tour on Aug. 4. Opening-night headliner Russell Dickerson kicked off the festivities July 31.
Festival Logistics for Closing Night
Musikfest spans both sides of Bethlehem: the SteelStacks campus on the South Side, home of the Wind Creek Steel Stage, and the Festplatz and other stages along and around Main Street. Admission to all peripheral stages, food courts and craft vendors is free. The Wind Creek Steel Stage headline concerts require a ticket, available through ArtsQuest and authorized resellers.
ArtsQuest expanded its free shuttle service this year, adding routes and ADA-accessible buses to connect more neighborhoods and parking areas to the festival footprint. Both sides of the festival run noon to 11 p.m. on closing day.
