Lehigh Valley Road Runners: From 9 Members to 600 and Still Growing

In 1993, the Lehigh Valley Athletic Association and the Emmaus Road Runners merged to form the Lehigh Valley Road Runners. They started with 9 members. Today, LVRR has nearly 600 members and is one of the largest and most active running clubs in Pennsylvania.

19 Races a Year

LVRR manages 19 races annually, including the St. Luke's Half Marathon and 5K, which the club has owned and operated since 1977. These are not corporate sponsored mega-events with sponsored logos on every surface. They are community races organized by runners, for runners, with the kind of local flavor that makes you want to come back year after year.

More Than Racing

The club offers training programs for runners of all levels, group runs that welcome everyone from beginners to experienced marathoners, and a community grants program that supports local organizations. They also fund college scholarships, investing in the next generation of runners and community leaders.

A Running Community

LVRR's member Bart Yasso has been an active part of the club for over 30 years. Aardvark Sports Shop in Bethlehem, the valley's premier running store since 1984, hosts free weekly group runs. Trail Sisters Lehigh Valley brings women together for trail running. The Breakfast Club Runners meet for early morning miles. This is not a single club. It is an entire running ecosystem that has grown up in a valley where Runner's World was headquartered for three decades.

Going from 9 members to 600 in a little over 30 years is a trajectory that speaks for itself. The Lehigh Valley is running country, and LVRR is the beating heart of it.
