Where to Hear Live Music in the Lehigh Valley: From Arena Rock to Listening Rooms

On any given night in the Lehigh Valley, you can hear live music. Not background music at a restaurant. Not a cover band at a sports bar. Real, dedicated live music, in venues that range from a 10,000 seat arena to a coffee house sized listening room where the artist is close enough to make eye contact.

The Lehigh Valley's live music scene is deeper and more varied than most people realize. Here is your guide.

The Big Room: PPL Center

PPL Center at 701 Hamilton Street in downtown Allentown is the Lehigh Valley's arena venue. With over 10,000 seats for concerts, it draws the national touring acts that used to bypass the region entirely. Rod Stewart, Luke Bryan, and HARDY are all on the 2026 calendar. The building also hosts the Lehigh Valley Phantoms hockey team, giving it a packed schedule of over 150 events per year.

PPL Center changed the game for downtown Allentown when it opened. Suddenly the city had a venue that could compete with Philadelphia and New York for major tours, and the surrounding restaurants and bars benefit from the foot traffic on show nights.

The Historic Theater: State Theatre

The State Theatre Center for the Arts at 453 Northampton Street in Easton is a beautifully restored historic theater that hosts concerts, comedy, theater, and community events. The acoustics are warm, the sightlines are good from every seat, and the ornate interior makes every show feel like a special occasion.

The New Kid: Archer Music Hall

Archer Music Hall is the newest entertainment venue in Allentown, bringing national touring artists and comedians to an intimate setting. The sound system is modern, the booking is adventurous, and the venue fills a gap between the enormity of PPL Center and the coziness of the smaller rooms.

The Listening Room: Godfrey Daniels

Godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem is the Lehigh Valley's original live music listening room, and it remains one of the best. The space is small, the audience is attentive, and the artists are close enough that you can see the calluses on their fingers. Folk, jazz, Americana, world music, and everything in between have graced this stage for decades. If you love live music and you haven't been to Godfrey Daniels, fix that immediately.

The Symphony: Miller Symphony Hall

Miller Symphony Hall at 23 North 6th Street in Allentown is home to the Allentown Symphony Orchestra under Music Director Diane Wittry, along with the Allentown Band, the Allentown Symphony Chorus, and the Nutcracker Ballet. The Pops Series, Jazz Cabaret Series, Backstage Chamber Series, and Musical Treasure Chest series for children round out a season that makes classical music accessible to everyone.

Free Music

The Lehigh Valley's free music offerings are remarkable for a region this size. The Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks hosts free outdoor concerts throughout the year. Live at the Falls in Scott Park in downtown Easton runs free Thursday evening concerts during warm weather, with food trucks at 6 PM and music at 6:30. ArtsWalk Pocket Park adds more free lineups.

Between the free outdoor series, the intimate clubs, the historic theaters, and the arena, the Lehigh Valley offers live music for every taste and every budget. You just have to show up.
